Welcome to West Oxford Bowls Club's website.
West Oxford Bowls Club is an outdoor flat green bowling club with six rinks situated in Botley Park, in the University town of Oxford City.
The club was formed in 1924 and since that time we have had two County Presidents. We are affliliated to Bowls England and Bowls Oxfordshire. Our club colours are Green and Yellow.
We play a mixture of Men's, Ladies & Mixed bowls, along with some indoor 'short mat' bowling in the Winter.
The Club has an active social committee who regularly organise musical evenings, parties, race nights, and Christmas & New Year get togethers.
We play mainly friendly fixtures on Saturdays. The Men's section belongs to the Oxford & District Mens league, and compete in local competitions. Some members also enter individual competitions organised by other local clubs.
Why not give it a try?
Monday evenings is our 'club evening' - between April and the end of August, when coaching is available for novices.
Currently we have 40 men and lady bowling members. Membership is £65 per year and £5 for Juniors. New members are always welcome and can have a go at bowling free of charge. New members enjoy a reduced membership fee in their first year too.
Get in touch with any member from our 'contact us' page. Visitors and spectators are of course welcome at any time. We noted for being quite an informal and sociable crowd!
Club House Hire
Our Club House is available for Hire. It has a well stocked bar, a working kitchen, a good sound system and can comfortably accomodate around 80 people for functions. Previous hirers say when busy it creates a great party atmosphere.
Oxford is renowned the world over, as the home of one of the oldest Universities in Europe. The city lies at the confluence of the Rivers Cherwell and Thames, or "Isis", as it is locally known, giving the opportunity for boating, punting and many pleasant riverside walks.
West Oxford Bowling Club is within easy walking distance of Oxford City centre and colleges. Our location on the western edge of Oxford City is convenient for the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace.
